The Lady Rebels struggled offensively in the first half and was only up 21-19 on the Lady Tigers at halftime. Even though ACCS was able to stretch its lead in the second half, Centreville would not go away quietly. Sydnie Lyons led the Lady Tigers with 24 points.

“Different people at different times (stepped up),” Hall said. “But I’m ready to see Lady Rebels basketball.”

ACCS (23-5) will take on the winner of today’s first-round game between Central Private School and Simpson Academy on Friday at 5:15 p.m.

Bowling Green boys 48,

ACCS 45

MENDENHALL — After getting off to a good start, Adams County Christian School could not keep the momentum going over the next two quarters and that cost the Rebels in a 48-45 loss to Bowling Green School Tuesday night in the first round of the MAIS Class AAA South State Tournament.

Despite being the No. 4 seed out of District 4, ACCS put the pressure on District 5 champion Bowling Green throughout the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, the Rebels had a surprising 19-13 lead. But any thoughts of an upset came to an end over the middle two quarters.

The Buccaneers outscored the Rebels 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 29-26 halftime lead. Both teams had a hard time getting shots to fall in the third quarter, but Bowling Green managed to outscore ACCS 9-4 for a 38-30 advantage. The Rebels tried to rally in the fourth quarter, but came up a few points short and saw their season come to an end.

Julian Wilson led ACCS (12-14) with 12 points and Darius Demby chipped in with 10.
