Trinity boys, girls roll to victories in MAIS AA playoffs

David Jackson scored 34 points and Trinity Episcopal stormed past Claiborne Academy 80-32 in the opening round of the MAIS AA South State Tournament in Tallulah, La Wednesday.

The Saints (19-4) led by just two points after the first quarter but turned it on in the second, outscoring CA 27-8 in the period.

Kevontaye Caston also chipped in with 12 points.

Eleven Saints players registered at least 2 points.

Trinity also outscored Claiborne 15-3 in the final quarter.

The Saints advance to the second round Friday at 6:30 p.m. where they will face Glenbrook Academy.

D’Asia Mitchell scored 34 points and Jasmine Ivory chipped in with 20 as Trinity rolled to a 74-45 win over UCA.

The Lady Saints (14-10) outscored UCA 30-9 in the second quarter to take a commanding 43-17 halftime lead.

Pashonnay Johnson led UCA with 30 points.

Rearnna Mayberry and Alli Smith each added eight points for the Lady Saints.

Trinity will face host Tallulah Academy at 5:15 p.m. Friday.
