FERRIDAY — A memorial service for Mary Munguia Reyes, 88, of Vidalia, who died in her sleep Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at her residence, will be at the King Ranch at a later date.
Mrs. Reyes was born June 6, 1928, at the King Ranch in Texas (Norias Division), the daughter of Pedro F. and Eluteria (Silguero) Munguia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
She married Roger Reyes April 12, 1946. Mawmaw, also known as Mrs. Mary to many, moved from Raymondville, Texas, to Natchez in 1968 with her husband and three loving children. In 1970, they moved their family to Moriah Plantation where they lived for 23 years. In 1993, she and her husband moved to the current residence in Vidalia.
Mary was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Reneé Ballard; two brothers, Pete Munguia and Nicolas “Nick” Munguia; and three sisters, Sara Gomez, Alice Silva and Tomasa Aguirre.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Roger Reyes; one daughter, Diana Rodriguez of Vidalia; two sons, Roy Reyes Sr. and wife, Janie, of Ferriday and Steve Reyes Sr. and wife, Judy, of Carthage, Texas; three grandchildren, Schelice Reyes of Carthage, Roy Reyes Jr. and wife, Crystal, of Ferriday and Levi Reyes and wife, Nikki, of Monroe, La.; nine great-grandchildren, Christi Ballard, Ally Crofford, Bailey Reyes, Lawson Reyes, Kylin Reyes, Brooklyn Reyes, Lyla Cate Reyes, Kipton Reyes and Holden Tucker Reyes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
