FERRIDAY — A Ferriday woman was hospitalized Saturday after she reportedly rode a bicycle in front of a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicle and collided with the vehicle.

Louisiana State Police Master Trooper Scott Moreau said the 50-year-old woman traveled into the path of the CPSO vehicle on a bicycle and suffered moderate injuries when the bicycle and vehicle collided.

CPSO posted on its Facebook page Sunday asking “everyone please keep one of our deputies in prayer and the pedestrian that hit his car. Pray for them and their families.”

“After reviewing the entire incident on video, a pedestrian riding a bicycle drove into and back out of traffic nearly hitting one car then back into traffic striking one of our units,” the post states. “The person on the bike is receiving medical attention and needs much love and prayer.”

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, Moreau said.

A brief demonstration by residents apparently upset by the incident happened after the accident, but was quelled. CPSO said in a separate Facebook post that rumors of rioting in Ferriday were not true.
