NATCHEZ — Services for Ernest “Buddy” Singleton, 83, who died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2017, at Glenburney Nursing Home, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.L. Hammitte officiating.  
Burial will follow at LaGrange Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. today with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Singleton was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Natchez, the son of William Singleton and Josephine Byrd Singleton.
He was a high school graduate, attended college and served 12 years in the military. He was a retired mechanic and truck driver for the Fortenberry Company.
Mr. Singleton was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, listening to country, blues and R&B music.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vernell Singleton.
Survivors include his dear wife of 50 years, Gloria Singleton of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, DeWayne Johnson and wife, Velma, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Allen Singleton and wife, Jennifer, of Phoenix; three daughters, Karen Al-Kharouf and husband, Shadi, of Warner Robins, Ga., Ernestine Thomas and husband, Ronald, of Huntsville, Ala., and Sandra Green and husband, Michael, of Baton Rouge; one brother, William Singleton IV and wife, Ghetti; two sisters, Thelma Stancel and Ella King and husband, Harrison; one sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Singleton, all of Natchez; nine grandchildren, Braelyn, Brenton, Dewanda, Jasmine, Joshua, Krysta, Kidja, Tracy and Waynetta; and a number of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
