NATCHEZ — Services for Peter L. Jackson Jr., 83, who died Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Ridgeland, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Jackson Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
A celebration of life wake service will be at 7 p.m. today, followed by visitation.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Jackson was born July 20, 1933, in Natchez, the son of Peter L. Jackson Sr. and Ellen Upton Jackson.
He was a graduate of Brumfield High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn A&M College.
Mr. Jackson was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and Fidelity Tire Company. He was a member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church where he attended Sunday school and was a past president of the senior choir.
Mr. Jackson was a participant of the T.M. Jennings Baseball League for a number of years. He enjoyed baseball, cooking and watching sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma L. Tyler Jackson; one daughter, Bonita Jackson Hinton; three brothers, Frank Jackson, Thomas Jackson and Jesse Jackson; and one sister, Mary Alice Walton.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Arnieta Jackson and Barbara A. Clark; one sister, Grace Jackson Smith Farmer; and other relatives and friends.
