NATCHEZ — Services for Thelma Marie Phipps Dixon, 88, who died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Living Word Worship Center with the Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. 
Burial will be Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Dixon was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Otis Phipps and Ella Coleman Carter.
She was employed as a housekeeper for John Ashley Netterville in Woodville for 20 years and The Sweet Potato Plant in St. Francisville, La., for 10 years.
Mrs. Dixon was a member of the Church of Christ, now the Living Word Worship Center. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, singing, playing with her grandchildren and taking care of the family.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John David Dixon Jr.; two sons, Robert Lee Dixon and Percy Louis Phipps; and one brother-in-law, Henry Barnes.
Survivors include one son, Clinton Dixon and wife, Linda; three daughters, Jennifer Brown and husband, William, Flora Turner and husband, James, and Irma Tillery, all of Natchez; one stepson, Albert Dennis and wife, Claudia, three brothers, Joe Carter and wife, Addeline, and Dave Carter, all of Natchez, and Daniel Carter and wife, Barbara, of Atlanta; three sisters, Dora Barnes of Dallas, Ella Louise Robertson and husband, Bobby Thomas, and Helen Washington and husband, Eli, all of Natchez; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
