NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman is behind bars after reportedly stabbing her girlfriend during an argument Thursday night on Marin Avenue.

Natchez Police Chief Daniel White said Valerie Moore, 54, 95 Marin Ave., reportedly stabbed her girlfriend twice in the leg while the two were physically fighting at Moore’s residence.

White said Moore reportedly claimed she stabbed the victim in an attempt to get the victim off of her.

The victim was transported to a Jackson hospital for treatment, but was expected to recover, White said.

Moore remained in the Natchez City Jail Friday afternoon without a bond.
