FAYETTE — Services for Fannie Mae “Mom Mae” Copeland Kelly, 100, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at her residence, wil be 1 p.m. today at St. Mariah Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Travel officiating.
Burial will follow at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Kelly was born April 23, 1916, the daughter of Eddie Copeland Sr. and Emma Bailey Copeland. She was the last of four children. She was affectionately known as “Mom Mae.”
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, great-great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was married to Eddie Evil and to this union, Emmie Lee and Freddie James Kelly were born. She later married Alfred Kelly and to this union, four children were born, Mary Pearl, Percy, Pearl Mae and Juanita Kelly.
Mom Mae professed Christ at an early age and later united with Montro Grove Baptist Church in Hermanville under the leadership of the Rev. Horace McBride.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Mary Pearl Kelly Davis, Emmie Kelly Sr. and Percy Kelly; two brothers, Eddie Copeland Jr. and Lee Copeland; one sister, Jessie Mae Collins; seven grandchildren, Larnell Kelly, Patricia Kelly, Meishia “Shun” McGee, Arvon Williams, Guy “Brody” Williams, Terry Earl Jackson and Lavonne Howard; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her life will be celebrated and cherished by a total of 215 descendants, which includes three children, Freddie James Kelly, Pearl McGee and husband, Louis, and Juanita Gaines and husband, Wilson, all of Fayette; 35 grandchildren; 98 great-grandchildren; 77 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Ellis Davis; and one daughter-in-law, Kily Kelly.
