NATCHEZ — Bargain hunters will have a chance to scoop up some deals for a good cause Saturday at the fifth annual community market at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church.
The community market is scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot and the Christian Life Center.
Event chairs Betsy Mosby and Lisa Falkenheiner say this year’s event should be the biggest in the five years the church has hosted the market, with more vendors setting up shop this year.
The market will feature local vendors as well as more out-of-town vendors, from cities including Magnolia, Brookhaven and Winnsboro, La.
The market originally began as a garage sale, with the ladies of church selling booth spaces to involve local community members, Mosby said.
Vendors at the community market will be selling new and gently used items.
“It’s almost like a big consignment store,” Falkenheiner said.
Goods to be sold include jewelry, furniture, wreaths, reclaimed antiques, bird houses, skin-care products, T-shirts and handmade items from Liberia. The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will also have dogs available for adoption at the market.
The market is free to attend, and concessions will be sold.
The proceeds of the community market will go to the church’s United Methodist Women’s group, which determines what causes the money will be used to support, including community organizations and mission trips.
