Saturday evening, the third annual Save the Hall Ball will raise money to preserve Pilgrimage Garden Club landmarks Stanton Hall and Longwood.

“The party provides an opportunity for residents and tourists to experience a traditional pilgrimage ball at Stanton Hall and raise money for major capital projects,” said Pilgrimage Garden Club Events Coordinator Ginny Harrison.

The ball, which starts at 9:30 p.m., is a black-tie event with an open bar and will feature a cocktail buffet plus a southern breakfast at 11 p.m. prepared by Chef Bingo Starr. Tickets are $100 per person.

Harrison said the funds raised by the ball have been used to replace the cedar shake roof and copper gutters at Longwood, as well as other restoration efforts.

“We spent $62,000 on this project,” Harrison said. “Longwood is a National Historic Landmark and repairs and improvements must be made in accordance with federal and state guidelines.”

The event will also feature a silent auction, Harrison said.

“This year we have new and very special items donated by Stella Sharp of Sharp Designs & Works of Art including a sterling silver water pitcher, a sterling silver ladle, silver candy dish and a beautiful antique white and gold porcelain tea service,” Harrison said.

A painting of Stanton Hall by local artist Sharon Richardson will also be up for auction.

In the future, funds raised will also repair the exterior cornice at Stanton Hall.

Tickets to the event are available for purchase at natchezpilgrimage.com or by calling 601-647-6742. They may also be bought at Natchez Pilgrimage Tours, located in the Natchez Visitor Reception Center or at the offices at  211 Main St.
