NATCHEZ — Natchez police filed more charges Friday against an Adams County man they believe is responsible for a recent series of robberies and burglaries of local businesses.

Natchez Police Department Lt. Kenneth Stampley said Jeffrey Wayne Clark, 51, 18 Prince Addition Road, was charged with armed robbery for the March 28 robbery of Sprint Mart on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive and two counts of burglary for the March 20 burglaries of Davidson’s Package Store and Panda Buffet.

Clark was charged by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week for the Feb. 28 armed robbery of Kaiser’s Mobil Mart on U.S. 61 North. NPD charged Clark last week in connection with the March 2 robbery of Kaiser’s Food and Fuel on U.S. 61 South.

Stampley said evidence found at Clark’s residence, including clothing, linked him to the crimes.

In addition to the incidents for which Clark was charged, the Morgantown Exxon on U.S. 61 North was robbed on March 2, and the Sprint Mart on Wood Avenue was robbed March 7.

Christopher Wimberly, 35, 1018 Martins Lane, was arrested and charged for the robbery of the Morgantown Exxon.

Stampley said police believe Clark is also responsible for the robbery of the Sprint Mart on Wood Avenue, but do not have enough evidence to formally charge him.

“We are confident it was him,” Stampley said. “We just didn’t have the evidence to charge him.”

Clark has served time in prison and has an extensive criminal history that includes at least 31 charges in Adams County for crimes since 2001 including armed robbery, burglary, simple assault — domestic violence and several other offenses.

Stampley asked that anyone with information about the Wood Avenue Sprint Mart robbery contact Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.

Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
