Anderson deserving of NASD honor

Natchez could use a few more parents like Ida Anderson.
While many people simply complain about the quality of schools, Anderson makes a difference in the Natchez-Adams School District.
Her efforts earned her the honor of being named the district’s parent of the year.
In addition to leading the district’s P16 counsel, she’s also active in the Parent Teacher Student Association.
That’s more volunteerism than many people do all year.
The school district is no different than any other group of children. The district’s children need adults in their lives who care about them, teach and guide them.
In short, they need people like Anderson who are focused on the children.
As the district prepares to seek voter approval for an aggressive building project, much focus will be on the district and its performance.
We would all be wise to remember, regardless of how the building project vote turns out, that our collective focus should be on the children.
If we could all focus on them, offer our time and our experiences to help them, the future of our community would be far better off.
Congratulations again to Anderson for showing us a great example of how a single person can give back to the younger generation that will soon take care of our community.
