NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was charged Thursday for reportedly robbing an East Franklin Street business owner at gunpoint last week.

Natchez Police Lt. Julius Steele said Mark Mitchell, 26, 15 Bishop St., was charged with armed robbery after an investigation of the robbery at a tire shop located at 44 E. Franklin St.

Mitchell reportedly came to the shop demanding a refund for what he believed was a bad tire that was sold to a relative.

The owner reportedly told Mitchell that the person who sold the tire was not at the store, and Mitchell then reportedly pulled a gun, took cash from the owner and fled.

Steele said Mitchell was identified following in-depth interviews and a photo lineup. Mitchell was arrested without incident Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop.
