John Winburn “Dub” Arnold Sr.

NATCHEZ — Services for John Winburn “Dub” Arnold Sr., 86, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 14, 2017, at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Stanton Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 12 p.m. Monday until service time at Stanton Baptist Church.
Mr. Arnold was born June 27, 1930, in Lucien, the son of Benjamin Franklin Arnold and Eddis Wilson Arnold.
He helped start Stanton Baptist Church as a mission and was a deacon. He also served as treasurer and taught Sunday school class at the church.
He worked at International Paper Company for 42 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. He loved to go on mission trips and coaching little league baseball.
Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Larry Arnold and George Arnold; one brother, Frank Arnold; and two sisters, Evelyn Terrell and Dorothy Thompson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy Farmer Arnold; two sons, John Arnold Jr., and wife, Patty, of Brandon, and Hugh Arnold and wife, Hollie, of Vidalia; one sister, Martha Nell Owens of Dallas; one sister in law, Pauline Arnold of Prattville, Ala.; five grandchildren, Kayla, Kaden and Khloe Arnold, and Lauren and Logan Arnold; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Allen, Wayne Boyd, Terrell Foster, David Mize, Stuart Purvis and Purvis Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the adult men’s Sunday school class at Stanton Baptist Church and Kaden Arnold.
The family of Mr. Arnold would like to thank the staff and doctors at the V.A. Hospital and Palliative care team for the care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stanton Baptist Church building fund or a charity of choice.
