Say ‘thanks’ to Master Gardeners

A group of Adams County residents has left their fingerprints — green fingerprints — all over our community and for their volunteer efforts, we are quite thankful.
On Saturday, the community will have a chance to help say “thanks” to the Adams County Master Gardeners’ group for the hard work the group’s volunteers have put in across the community.
The group’s annual — and only — fundraiser will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Natchez campus. The plant sale will feature flowers, vegetables and herbs. Also available for free will be a series of classes Saturday, at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon in which members of the group will share their know-how with anyone interested in learning.
Since the group first began in 2001 its volunteers have planted happiness and a volunteer spirit in a number of different areas of the community.
The group’s projects have included work in local schools, throughout downtown, around the bandstand on the Natchez bluff, around the Bridge of Sighs, the Forks of the Road site and Historic Jefferson College, just to name a few.
Their work is important to locals and visitors alike. Their know-how and willingness to give their time and labor to the community has made a tremendous difference in the quality of life.
In the wake of their volunteerism is a trail of beauty and inspiration for us all. We hope you’ll consider visiting their fundraiser Saturday, making a purchase or a donation and just saying, “thanks” for the work they continue to do to make our community nicer.
