NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School senior Hannah Cox says she already has college on her mind and has the scholarships to help her along.
Cox has attended ACCS since fifth grade, and over the course of her time there, she has already accrued seven different scholarships.
Because of her academic accomplishments, Cox has been offered the Mississippi College Presidential Scholarship, Mississippi College Leadership Scholarship, Masons Scholarship, Southern Baptist Scholarship and Southwest Mississippi Electric Scholarship.
Cox scored a 29 on the ACT and has a 3.96 GPA.
Cox was voted the mostly likely to succeed and the most intellectual in her class.
Currently, Cox is dually enrolled in ACCS and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She takes anatomy and physiology and economics at ACCS and English composition and trigonometry at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
Cox said her passion for academics started when she was younger.
“I liked to read even when I was little,” Cox said. “My biggest inspirations have been Ms. Arlene Richardson, who taught me English from the ninth to the 11th grade, and Mrs. Nicki Freeman, who taught me biology I and anatomy and physiology.”
When she is not focused on her studies Hannah plays for the Lady Rebel soccer team and is a member of the Beta Club, Student Council, Key Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Cox attributes her success to her friends, who inspired her to do better and were a major support system in her life.
“I have an intense fear of failing,” Cox said. “I had to overcome the fact that whether you fail or succeed, you learn something from it. Failure will happen no matter what, so you may as well try your best.”
Cox plans to attend Mississippi College in the fall.
