RUSTON, La. — Memorial services for John Lewis Lord, 74, who died Monday, April 24, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, La., with Cole Bailey officiating.
A private burial will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, La., under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lord was born Sept. 17, 1942, in St. Joseph, La., the son of Quida Wise Lord and Lynn Ellis Lord.
John grew up in Natchez. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. After serving in the military, he graduated from Mississippi State University in 1967, with a bachelor of science degree in business management.
John was a long time resident of Baton Rouge and the St. Francisville, La., area. He was an insurance agent in Baton Rouge for more than 45 years. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Calhoun, La., in 2013, to be closer to family.
John was a devoted and loving husband, brother, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Lord.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Lord; one daughter, Kristy Baker and husband, Shane, of Calhoun; his beloved grandchildren, Justin and Trent of Ruston; one brother, Ellis Lord and wife, Gay, of Daphne, Ala.; one sister, Betty Lord Gousset of Jackson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
