ST. JOSEPH — Services for Mary Spears Garrett, 90, of St. Joseph, who died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Monday at United Pentecostal Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Dewayne Butler officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday, both at the church.
Mrs. Garrett was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Sicily Island, the daughter of Charley Cassidy Spears and Mattie Spears Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Milton Garrett; one son, John Thomas Garrett; one daughter, Mary Evelyn Garrett Otwell; one brother, Lionel Spears; and one sister, Laverne Spears Holland.
Survivors include one son, Milton Garrett and wife, Kim, of Natchez; one daughter, Millissa Hardwick of St. Joseph; one daughter-in-law, Linda Garrett of Winnsboro, La.; two brothers, Horace Spears of Sicily Island and Charles Spears of Harrisonburg, La.; one sister, Barbara Fletcher of Jonesville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
