— Ferriday High School has been evacuated because of a bomb threat.

Concordia Parish School District Interim Superintendent Loretta Blankenstein said she was not sure exactly what time the threat was called in today, but students and staff were evacuated swiftly thereafter by bus to the Ferriday Junior High School gym.

Blankenstein said the Louisiana State Police has dispatched a bomb squad unit to check the building for threats. Ferriday Police Department officers are also on location, she said.

“We take every situation like that seriously,” Blankenstein said.

Blankenstein said testing is going on at Ferriday High School this week, but the testing period had concluded before the bomb threat was called in.
