MONTEREY — Services for J. C. “Jack” Bass, 88, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Joel Ford Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. today until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Bass was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Mississippi, the son of Robert Eugene Bass and Carrie Jackson Bass.

He served as an assistant pastor at Apostolic Life Tabernacle. He lived for Jesus for 61 years. Mr. Bass was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosa Mae Bass; one son, Ronald Bass; one daughter, Cindy Bass; and one grandson, Owen Ainsworth.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Van Norman of Mize and Nancy Stockman of Monterey; one son, George Bass of Vidalia; 10 grandchildren, Nicole Broussard, Tina Bynum, Chrystal Ford, Charlie Coates Jr., Rebecca Boone, Denise Montgomery, Gabriel Bass, Jordan Bass, Miranda Tennessee and Jackie Coates-May; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Bass, Gabriel Bass, Charlie Coates Jr., Joel Ford Jr., Michael Franklin, Tyrone Briggs, and Bob Krinsavage.

Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Boone, Timothy Boone, Jeremy Montgomery, Dalton Bynum, Dillon Bynum and Anthony Fairchild.
