NATCHEZ — Area children have even more to do this summer. Last week The Democrat  published some of the activities available this summer. Here is our list of summer camps — with four camps added this week — that are sure to provide fun, challenging learning activities for area children:

NEW — Concordia Parish Library summer reading programs

The Concordia Parish Library is offering summer programs for children of all ages from June 5 through July 25.

Preschool programs will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Vidalia library and Thursdays at the Ferriday library.

Elementary school programs will be at 10:15 a.m. on Mondays at Concordia Bank in Monterey, Tuesdays at the Vidalia library, Thursdays at the Ferriday library and Fridays at the Clayton library.

Programs for teenagers will be at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Vidalia library and Thursdays at the Ferriday library.

The library has also planned several guest appearances throughout the summer. Guests include:

• June 8 — Magician Mitch Richard at 10:15 a.m. at the Ferriday library and at 2 p.m. at the Vidalia library.
• June 15 — The Sciencetellers at 10:15 a.m. at the Ferriday library and at 2 p.m. at the Vidalia library.

• July 20—  One woman drumming show “Lady Chops” at 10:15 a.m. at the Ferriday library and at 2 p.m. at the Vidalia library.
• July 25 — The “Snakeman” Terry Vandeventer at 10:15 a.m. at the Vidalia library and at 2 p.m. at the Ferriday library.

NEW — Children’s Prep Music Studio

The Children’s Prep Music Studio under the direction of Kathleen Mackey King will host a summer music camp from June 19-23.

The camp features singing, movement, musical games, instruments and music appreciation to improve self-discipline, concentration and growth and development.

The camp for ages 3-10 will be at the studio on the second floor of  the Natchez Senior Center at 800 Washington St.

Tuition for the camp is $75.

Camps are at the following times:

• Ages 3-4 — 4:15 to 5 p.m.
• Ages 5-7 — 3:15 to 4 p.m.
• Ages 8-10 — 2:15 to 3 p.m.

NEW — Natchez Ballet Academy

The Natchez Ballet Academy is offering two camps this summer.

Ballet summer camp will be June 12-16 at the Natchez Performing Arts Center at Margaret Martin School, 64 Homochitto St.

The camp will include dance, crafts games, story time and a tea party.

Camps will be offered for two age groups:

• Ages 3 -4 — Ballerina princess camp fro 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Ages 5-6 — Alice in Wonderland camp from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Tuition is $85, including a non-refundable $5 registration fee.

Natchez Junior Cotillion Summer Camp will be from June 19-23 at the Natchez Performing Arts Center.

A little girl’s tea party camp will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages 5-7.

A beginning table manners camp will be offered from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for boys and girls ages 6-12.

Classes are limited to 12 participants.

NEW — Natchez Gymnastics camp

Natchez Gymnastics and Cheerleading is offering summer classes on June 12 and Aug. 1.

Classes include instruction for preschool and beginners to advanced tumble, agility and balance and back-handspring skills.

Historic Jefferson College

Explore Camp sessions at Historic Jefferson College, 16 Old North St. in Washington, are scheduled for June 26-30 and will feature a wide array of educational subjects.

• Slimy or Scaly? Reptiles & Amphibians is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on June 26. Children ages 6 to 8 will learn about differences of snakes from other animals, how snakes relate to other reptiles and will watch a live snake feeding. • Ancient Weapons is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on June 28. Children ages 9 to 12 will examine how our distant relatives hunted, protect themselves and waged war. Students will build different weapons of their own such as trebuchets and catapults, and have a shooting competition with a ballista. Grand Village of the Natchez Indians

The Grand Village of the Natchez Indians on 400 Jeff Davis Blvd. will have the following camps:

• Craft camp is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. on June 12-16 for children ages 7 to 9 and 2 to 4 p.m. on June 19-23 for children ages 5 to 6. Entry fee is $40 per child. The camp includes various craft projects including pottery, basket weaving and beading.
• Sports Camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on June 12-16 for children ages 7 to 9 and 9 to 11 a.m. on June 19-23 for children ages 5 to 6. Entry fee is $25 per child. The camp teaches Native American sports, games and survival skills.

For children to participate in both camps, the entry fee is $60 per child.

Co-Lin Kids College

Copiah-Lincoln Community College has scheduled several camps. All classes are from 9 a.m. to noon at the Co-Lin Natchez campus, with the exception of Tennis classes, which will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at Duncan Park on June 19-22 and July 17-20. Registration fee is $65.

• Cheer Camp is scheduled from June 12-14 for grades K-6. Registration fee is $50 and is due on June 2.

Key Rehab Associates Inc.

Key Rehab is hosting four board-certified speech and occupational therapist-lead camps, teaching children the importance of etiquette and writing.

Key Rehab, at 123 Jeff Davis Blvd., will feature the following camps:

• Handwriting Camp utilizes fun, multi-sensory techniques for Pre-K and second-grade students like body awareness and eye-hand coordination, and will be from 7:45 a.m. to noon on June 5-8 and July 10-13.
• Intro to Keyboarding will introduce more multi-sensory techniques to kindergarten and third-grade students like technology foundation skills and computer readiness, and will be from 12:45 to 4:15 p.m. on June 12-15 and July 17-20.
• Kindergarten Readiness Camp develops kindergarten readiness skills to children ages 4 to 6 to include attention and listening skills and social skills, and will be from 7:45 a.m. to noon on June 19-22 and July 24-27.
• Language and Sensory Integration Camp provides a therapeutic environment for children ages 3 to 7 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory disorders, targeting motor skills and self-help skills, and will be from 12:45 to 4:15 p.m. on June-29.

Satya Yoga Wellness Center

The center on Main Street is offering yoga sessions for teens ages 12 to 18 called Be-Yoga-Tiful from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in June.

The sessions are $100 for eight sessions and will include a yoga tank.

The sessions will serve as an introduction to yoga with focuses on proper alignment, core strengthening, improved body awareness and flexibility.

Sessions are limited to 24 students. Classes may be offered in July.

Natchez Art Association

Loraine C. Griffin will be directing the 2017 Summer Art Camp at the Art Center on 452 Jefferson St.

Session time will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Session dates are June 5-8, June 19-22, June 26-29, July 10-13 and July 24-27.

Sessions are $120 paid in advance with 12 slots available per date, with a $25 discount for Natchez Art Association members and their siblings. All art materials are included.

Everyday Adventures

Kids Kayak Camps are scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on June 10 and 17 at Natchez State Park. Camp is an outdoor personal training venture geared towards helping people gain fitness. Gear and lunch are included at the camp.

The camp is for children ages 7 and older and is $40 per child. Only 10 slots are available each day.

• Wee Potters Camp is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon on June 12-16 for children ages 6 and 7.

Natchez Little Theater

The Natchez Little Theater is offering a summer youth workshops for the June production of “The Jungle Book” and the August production of “The Addams Family.”

The workshops are for children in grades 1-12. Children who participate will be involved in all aspects of theatre including acting, lights, sound, makeup and more.

The June production sign-up process ends on June 5. Sessions are scheduled at 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.

Natchez Fine Framing & Art Gallery

Summer Art Classes are scheduled for 2 to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday through Friday starting May 30 through August.

George W. Armstrong Library

The kick-off for the George Armstrong Library summer reading program will be at 5:15 p.m. on June 1 for all ages and will feature a presentation by the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. The location of the kick-off has yet to be determined.

The theme for the children’s program is “Build a Better World.”

The program will be offered from June 5 to June 29.

The 3- to 5-year-olds will meet from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays; 6- to 12-year-olds will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays; and the 13- to 18-year-olds will meet at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays; adults will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursdays.

A family-oriented movie matinee will be featured at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays.
