Dee Fleming hauled in a receiving touchdown and ran for another as Trinity Episcopal beat Clinton Christian Academy 22-6 in a spring exhibition Saturday in Clinton.
Trinity and Clinton Christian Academy played a full game with each team starting possession on its own 40-yard line. The exhibition also featured a situational format, with each team running five plays from the opponents 40, 30, 20, 10 and 5-yard lines and having one play to score.
“We did real well. We competed extremely well,” Trinity coach Graham Roberts said.
Fleming finished the game with three catches for 52 yards, and Jakarius Caston added 43 yards on three receptions.
Sterling Yarbrough led Trinity in passing with 112 yards. The Saints’ signal-caller completed 9 of 14 passes.
Anfernee Thomas led Trinity with 49 yards rushing on nine carries.
In the situational format, Trinity and CCA both scored once from the 30 and 10-yard lines. The Saints scored twice from the 20 and both teams scored two times from the 5.
“We had some long plays and some big plays,” Roberts said. “I was every impressed with our big play ability especially with our numbers being low. Those guys were on the field the whole times. They gave great effort and showed tremendous effort.”
