PINEHURST, N.C. — Memorial services for Benjamin Daigre, 81, of Pinehurst, N.C., who died Sunday, May 14, 2107, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Southern Pines United Methodist Church in Pinehurst with the Rev. Tommy Sweeley officiating.   

Arrangements are under the direction of Boles Funeral Homes and Crematory Inc., in Pinehurst, N.C.

Mr. Daigre was the son of Seard Phillip Daigre and Luzon Montgomery Daigre.

He was a graduate of Mississippi State University, a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, a cheerleader for the Bulldogs and a member of the “M” Club.

Upon his graduation, he spent three years in the U.S. Air Force in Goldsboro, N.C., at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

From 1961 to 1991, Benny was a community banker, including a 20-year stent as chief executive officer and board member of Uni-Fed Savings and Loan in Vidalia. He also spent a number of years (1981-1985) associated with Dlynn Braswell and Associates Oil Company as vice president and chief financial officer.

Mr. Daigre was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Monty Daigre; one sister, Mary Jane Gore; and his only daughter, Stacy Daigre Strong.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jean Daigre; two sons, Darrell Daigre and wife, Lisa, of Raleigh, N.C. and Alan Daigre of Woodbury, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Cole Strong and wife, Ashley, Carrie Welborn and husband, Noah, Claire Beard and husband, Carson, Taylor Daigre and Parker Daigre; and eight beautiful great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

The family requests donations be made to the Moore Free and Charitable Clinic or St. Jude Hospital.
