Ferriday police investigating incident related to man stabbed in neck

FERRIDAY — A 44-year-old Ferriday man is recovering in an Alexandria hospital after being stabbed in the neck Friday.

Ferriday Police Investigator Richard Madison said at 9:08 a.m., police received a call from Riverland Medical Center that a man had been brought in with a severe stab wound to the right side of his neck.

Madison said the victim claims an unknown assailant stabbed him while he walked his dog. However, Madison said through investigation, officers have been able to determine an altercation occurred at the man’s Florida Avenue residence.

Madison said the investigation into what occurred is continuing.

“We need to follow up on information provided to determine the cause of the victim’s injuries,” Madison said.

The victim was evacuated by air to Rapides Medical Center. Madison said he spoke with a family member of the victim, and he is out of surgery and is doing better.
