NATCHEZ – Memorial services for Jesse Dunn Sewell, 18, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at his residence, will be noon Thursday at First Baptist Church of Vidalia with the Rev. Wes Faulk and the Rev. Sam Tomlinson officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Sewell was born Sept. 2, 1998, in Natchez, the son of Craig and Penny Sewell.  He attended Trinity Episcopal Day School and Adams County Christian School, from which he recently graduated. He planned to attend the University of Southern Mississippi in August. Jessie was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. He was an intelligent, kind, funny, loving and handsome young man who was loved by whomever’s life he touched. He planned to major in psychology in college because he wanted to help people with their challenges. Jesse had many struggles of his own which lead to his early unexpected death. Our lives will never be the same without our beloved Jesse.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary McKinlay and Bob McKinlay of Natchez and Hollywood, Fla.

Survivors include his parents, Craig and Penny Sewell of Vidalia; paternal grandmother, Mary East of West Monroe, La.; paternal grandfather, George Sewell and wife, Wanda, of Vidalia; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially his three best friends, Murray Donald, Wesley Heatherly and Everett Washington; and his childhood nanny, Marga Hoggett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Jessie to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or the Natchez Adams County Humane Society.
