NATCHEZ — Natchez-Adams School District officials are finalizing details to offer online school registration to students in the kindergarten through seventh grade.
Last month, the Natchez-Adams School Board approved the new registration method.
Since then, school district officials have been working with vendor PowerSchool to get the registration site operational. The company specializes in online school registration and other technology solutions for schools.
Accountability and Assessment Coordinator Aquetta Butler said online registration would save time for parents, who currently must take time out of their schedules to drive to the schools for registration. Butler said the online registration could also help reduce paperwork.
“(Now) parents have to submit 10 to 15 documents in order for their children to register,” Butler said.
The online registration process would hopefully help reduce that number, she said.
Butler said parents would also be able to use their smartphones to register.
Public Relations Coordinator Steven Richardson said new and returning kindergarten students through seventh graders will be eligible for online registration once the registration website has been finished.
Currently the site is not available but Richardson said once the details are worked out, the district will release more information about the site and when online registration will start.
“We hope to get the registration up and running soon,” Richardson said.
The school district hopes to include all grade levels by the 2018-19 school year, Butler said.
