DUNBARTON — Services for Elaine Carlton McEntyre, 79, who died Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Merit Health in Natchez, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evangeline Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Baker and the Rev. Curtis Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Evangeline Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Elaine was born on Feb. 28, 1938, to Edward Carlton and Hattie Gardner Carlton in Natchez.

Elaine was raised on the banks of Back River with her seven brothers and seven sisters. She married the love of her life, Jerry Glenn McEntyre Sr. on July 21, 1957. Together they raised four children. Elaine spent her days as a farmer’s wife, keeping books and making sure everyone was fed. She hauled everything from kids to cotton. One of her greatest pleasures in life was rocking her babies, from newborn to full grown adults. No one was ever to old to crawl in her lap and feel complete comfort and security. She took great pride in each of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jerry Glenn McEntyre Sr.; one son, Jerry Glenn McEntyre Jr.; three daughters, Renae McEntyre, Lisa Borden and husband, Bobby Glenn Borden, and Mona McEntyre; five granddaughters; eight grandsons; 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alex Crelia, Lane McEntyre, Luke Wilson, Mike Cowan, Scott Chaudoin and Wesley McEntyre.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Glenn Borden, Bradley Cowan, Larry “Butch” Parker, Derrick Barlow and Michael Paul Crelia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
