NATCHEZ — Natchez police are warning residents, especially in the downtown area, to keep their car doors locked when unattended following a string of vehicle burglaries.

Interim Natchez Chief of Police Shawn T. King said Friday officers are looking for Jonquil T. Jackson in connection with a series of downtown car burglaries.

“Jonquil is currently wanted for a Mississippi Department of Corrections violation and is suspected in multiple area burglaries. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police,” King said.

King said the department has not issued any warrants for Jackson’s arrest but that Jackson is suspected of committing at least three burglaries in the area.

“He’s hanging around the downtown area, like Commerce and Pearl (streets),” King said.

All reported incidents resulted from car doors being left unlocked, King said.
