The threat of heavy rainfall has pushed the Robert “Bob” Mims Miss-Lou Patriotic Golf Tournament from Saturday to mid-September.
The fourth-year tournament benefits Home for Heroes in the Miss-Lou and is in honor of World War II veteran Robert “Bob” Mims, who was captured by the Germans and taken as a prisoner of war.
Tournament Director Mark LaFrancis said because of potential wet conditions, the fear of a disappointing turnout led to the postponement.
“If we have several days of drenching rain and on tournament day it would make for a poor showing, and we wouldn’t be able to raise the funds that we had anticipated for,” he said.
Funds raised from the tournament go directly toward assisting veterans and their families.
“We want to raise as much money as we possibly can,” LaFrancis said.
The tournament has been rescheduled for Sept. 16, and LaFrancis said all sponsor signs and commitments will be honored.
“I’m sure that we will have a great turnout in September, and we have a lot of people that support veterans,” he said.
