Jack Whitehead and Jake Barlow each smacked a triple and Christian Day shined on the mound as the 19-and-under Purple Sox took down Bastrop 9-4 Monday in the championship game of the Dixie Majors Baseball Tournament in Monroe.

“We just have a really good group of unselfish player,” Purple Sox coach Matthew Freeman said. “They took care of business. This was a fun group of guys to coach.”

With the win, the Purple Sox will head back to Monroe July 29-Aug. 2  to compete in the World Series.

The Purple Sox finished the tournament 4-0.
