NATCHEZ — Services for Jimmy Rodger Young, 87, of Natchez, who died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dillon Wickliffe officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Young was born March 3, 1930, in Auburn, the son of Doc Bates Young and Marie Porter Young.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from Johns Manville. He was a trustee of Immanuel Baptist Church and he served on the board of Adams County Water Association.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Matilda Young; and one brother, Billy Lewis Young.
Survivors include two sons, James Bates Young and wife, Gwen, and Danny Alan Young, all of Natchez; one daughter, Kay Elizabeth Young of Birmingham, Ala.; three grandchildren, Taylor Young Brown and husband, Tom, of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Noble Bates Charlotte Young of Covington, La., and Zachary Rodger Young of Prarieville, La..; one great-granddaughter, Evangeline Bates Brown; three sisters, Sue McCall of Collins, Faye Silvio of Central, La.. and Gail Rushing of Vidalia; two brothers, Loyd Young of Summit and Glenn Young of Smithdale.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
