NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams School Board has a special called meeting today in which one topic will include the district’s annual budgeting process and ad valorem request to the county.
The meeting is scheduled to be at 3 p.m. at the Braden Administration building.
Superintendent Fred Butcher said the ad valorem request is not connected to the school district’s borrowing of $9 million, which would be paid for through a 3-mill limited tax note.
“(Today’s) meeting is a continuation of the annual budget process for the schools,” Butcher said. “Each year after the adoption of the budget, a resolution to request an ad valorem tax effort in dollars must be presented to the Board of Supervisors on or before Aug. 15.
“This request has no connection to the request for a 3-mil note.”
Other items on the agenda are approval of student handbooks, approval of America Reads partnership, personnel recommendations and the district’s vacancy list.
