Police reported Van Terrell Scott, 41, 1 Gloucester Court, tried to cash the allegedly forged check in the drive thru at United Mississippi Bank.

Police said the teller realized the check could be forged based on an internal bank warning that stemmed from an incident that occurred in Louisiana just days ago.

The teller, police reported, noticed that the account had been flagged and that Scott was not permitted to cash the account owner’s checks.

Scott was apprehended at UMB and delivered to the Natchez Police Department, where he was subsequently arrested. Scott was held Monday with no bond set for uttering a forgery.
