Three county men arrested by US Marshals

NATCHEZ — The U.S. Marshals Service deputies arrested three convicted sex offenders Thursday for allegedly not properly registering with authorities.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jerry Brown said the Marshals Service was in Natchez performing a routine check on sex offenders in Adams County to make sure they were living where they were supposed to, working where they were supposed to and being in compliance with state law.

John Everette Bruce, 66, 100 Sophmore Drive, Anthony McLaurin, 50, 303-A Dumas Drive, and Clarence Pettis, 50, 92 Rice Road, were arrested for being out of compliance, and Bruce had an additional warrant related to a narcotics charge in in Louisiana, Brown said.

Brown said Pettis had failed to register as a sex offender, McLaurin did not register within the timeframe required and Bruce did not notify authorities that he had a change of address.

Brown said more arrests are pending.

Bruce and Pettis were all in jail Saturday with no bond set. McLaruin was in jail Saturday with a $1,000 bond.
