The Ferriday Gators fell behind 3-1 in the first inning and never could recover Monday as it fell to North Carolina, 6-3, at the Dixie Debs World Series in Alexandria.

Andy Gray led the Gators with two hits, while Jania Burns, Bailey Book and Kelsey Cavasos each had solo hits.

The Ferriday-based team will attempt to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament at 5:30 p.m. today when it faces tournament host Alexandria.
