Vidalia-based Southwest wins final pool game at World Series

Alyssa Howard hit a grand slam to propel Southwest over East Thursday in its final pool play game of the Little League Softball Senior League World Series.
Despite the win, Southwest does not advance to tournament bracket play. It will play again at 4 p.m. Saturday in a consolation game.
Howard’s third-inning hit was accompanied by 10 other Southwest hits in the win.
Marlee Magee, Sydney Watts and Savanna Spear all contributed two hits apiece. Magee led the offense with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Watts added an RBI.
Jensen Gremillion earned the win for Southwest, pitching 4.1 innings and recorded four strikeouts. Howard came in for relief and recorded two strikeouts in the final frame.
