NATCHEZ — Services for Alice W. Burns, 94 of Forest, former resident of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. Scott Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Burns was born June 3, 1923 in Serepta, La., the daughter of William Lee Wilkins and Lillie Sauder Wilkins.
She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class at Waterproof High School. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Basilica.
Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Andrew Burns and nine siblings.
Survivors include her children, Carla Marie Burns of Logansport, La., and Tim Burns and wife, Becky, of Ridgeland; five grandchildren, Amy M. Hall and husband, Chuck, Rebecca M. Thompson and husband, Joe, Sarah M. Ford and husband, Ashton, Jackie Brister and husband, Kenny, Joseph Burns and wife, Meghan; ten great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and one sister, Lilly Ramsey of Newellton, La.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Burns’ nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest for their kindness and care.
