Wilkinson County High School scored first but ended in a tie with McComb Friday night in its jamboree matchup, 6-6.
The Wildcats played two traditional 12-minute quarters and were able to score on a touchdown run from junior quarterback Trevion Miles from about 10 yards out.
“This gave us something to build on,” WCHS coach Kenneth Brown said. “We looked a lot better in those two quarters than we did in the spring game.”
While Miles was able to add points in his first start at quarterback, Brown said tailbacks Terrell Coleman and Nolan Thompson also ran the ball effectively.
“Both of them looked good,” he said. “We just played better overall, but we still have some work to do.”
Wilkinson County is set to host Natchez High for its firs regular-season game at 7 p.m. next Friday.
