FERRIDAY — Services for Fran Swayze Lanehart, 71, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at her residence, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lanehart was born Sept. 9, 1945, the daughter of Bruce and Ruby Swayze and her birth mother, Era Drane Jones.
She was a 1963 graduate of Ferriday High School and was a proud Ferriday Bulldog alum. She was employed by Little Rock School District for more than 30 years as a librarian. Her passion in life was to help children receive books. She often helped at school fairs by supplementing the cost to ensure that no children were left out.
Fran stayed busy in retirement by joining a Zumba class where she made a number of new friends and took pride in the fact that she was able to crochet blankets for everyone in her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her birth mother.
Survivors include two sons, Ty Lanehart and wife, Karen, and Richard Lance Lanehart; one grandson, Jonathan Lanehart; and a dear close friend of the family, Norma Harris, all of Little Rock.
Pallbearers will be Lehman Lanehart, Charles Lanehart, Chuck Lanehart, Eddie Crow, Johnny Allred and Jonathan Lanehart.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Baltz and Billy Rucker.
The family will have a memorial service in Little Rock at a later date.
