NATCHEZ – Services for Maxine May Burkett, 88, of Natchez who died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Dugas officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Burkett was born July 10, 1929, in Hazlehurst, the daughter of Murray Daniels and Lorraine Hughes Daniels. She was a former business owner of a shopping center. Mrs. Burkett was a member of Assumption Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Lorraine and William Ellis; her father, Murray Daniels; her husband, Julius A. May; one son, Thomas Michael May; two grandsons, Julian Jacks and Payden Pressgrove; and two sons-in-law, Tommy Williams and Bob Breazeale.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Burkett and wife, Tammy, and Julius “Bubba” May Jr.; four daughters, Patricia Williams, Ann Breazeale, Cathy Roberts, and a very special daughter that was close to her heart, Diane Loftis Wheeler; one brother, Jimmy Daniels and wife, Stella; three sisters, Mildred Dunn, Macel Giles and husband, Jack, and Sue Husbands and husband, Robert; 15 grandchildren, David Williams, Vanessa Peterman and husband, Mark, Brandon Perkins and wife, Janay, Kristin Foster and husband, West, Dylan Pressgrove, Bianca Krasniqi, Justin May and wife, Jana, Melissa Bryant and husband, Devin, Taylor, Callie and Phillip Burkett, Jacob Charrier, Jessica Watts, Cody and Lindsay May; 14 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Peterman, Bradford and Brighton Perkins, Barrett and Logan Foster, Remi Reese Pressgrove, Cara Brooke and Stratton May, Aiden Bryant, Kypp and Brighton Gandy, Ryder Charrier, and Addyln Watts: and two very special nephews, Robert and Tommy Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Perkins, Justin May, David Williams, Phillip Burkett, West Foster and Mark Peterman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Pressgrove and Cody May.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Deaconess Hospice for their support and care in mother’s final days and a very special thanks to DaBrittney and Marshall Morgan.
Mom, as your heart is filled with love of the Lord, may you rest in peace or dance in heaven because this is your time now. We love you so much as we turn you over to the Lord.
