Adams County Christian School registered just three hits after going four scoreless innings with Amite School Center, squeezing out a victory Tuesday night, 1-0.

Makenna Patt scored Marlee Magee on a sacrifice fly to right field after the Lady Rebels recorded back-to-back hits in the top of the fifth.

“We strung two together and got a little movement going on,” ACCS coach Tate Lipscomb said. “That saved us.”

Magee gave ACCS its first glimpse of offense during the game as she hit a single to left field, and Lexie Emanuel followed by hitting a double to the left-center wall on the first pitch she saw.

While Patt was fortunate to drive in the winning run, Emanuel was tagged out at third base.

The Lady Rebels also fell short of adding to their lead as they left the bases loaded in the sixth inning.

“Not coming away with any runs there hurts very badly,” Lipscomb said. “We have got to hit the ball and put it away when we can. The bats are going to have to come alive.”

Lipscomb said though his team still needs work offensively, he was happy to see the defense pulling together.

Brianna Henson pitched all seven innings for ACCS to earn the win. She recorded 10 strikeouts and gave up just two walks in the seventh inning.

Henson also recorded the Lady Rebels’ final hit on the night.

“With Bri pitching, all we need is that one run,” Lipscomb said. “I’ve always known we were good defensively, but sooner or later one run is not going to get us. With tough teams, you can’t keep winning by one run.”

Moving forward, ACCS will attempt to spark its presence at the plate the only way it knows how, Lipscomb said.

“Just keep practicing, that’s all we can do,” he said. “They are going to have to take it upon themselves to have discipline — not waiting on a pitch or trying to make too many things happen.”

The Lady Rebels will be back in action Saturday as they travel to a tournament at Bayou Academy.
