Delta Charter School jumped out to a big lead and kept Homer High School at bay the rest of the way as the Storm defeated the Pelicans 26-12 to give Blake Wheeler his first win as its head coach.

Delta Charter took a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play and then scored another touchdown to go up 20-0 in the second quarter. Homer scored just a few minutes before halftime to go into the break down 20-6.

The two teams exchanged touchdowns nearly midway through the third quarter to make it 26-12, but the Storm’s defense kept the Pelicans off the scoreboard the rest of the game.

Delta Charter (1-0) plays host to Lincoln Prep at 7 p.m. next Friday.
