NATCHEZ — Services for Melvin Coleman, 73, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Coleman was born on Dec. 26, 1943, in Liberty, the son of Johnny H. Coleman Sr. and Nannie Lee Freeman Coleman. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church. Mr. Coleman was retired from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. He also worked for Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company for 24 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kay Coleman, one sister, Lelia Raye Coleman, and one brother, Keith Coleman.

Survivors include three sons, Michael McMullen and wife, Monica, Ronnie Coleman and Kevin Coleman; four grandchildren, Holden McMullen, Taylor Coleman, Kaylee Cole McMullen and Darby Beach; two brothers, Johnny Coleman Jr. of Bude, and Wilton Coleman of Bossier City, La.; one sister, Sue Hopkins of Missouri; one sister-in-law, Carol Orcutt of Natchez; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ivy Ray Thornton, Chris Higgs, Carl Niven, Harlie Wheeler, Wayne Hash and Lee Hash.
