NATCHEZ — Services for Claudia Mae Evans, 61, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dywon Lewis officiating.    

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home Natchez chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Ms. Evans was born Oct. 22, 1955, in Adams County, the daughter of Metcalfe Evans Jr. and Arnetter Gultry Evans.

She was preceded in death by parents; three sisters, Barbara E. Jackson, Bettye E. McDonald and the Rev. Shirley E. Evans; two nieces, Felecia “Bert” Evans and Ursula King; two nephews, James Evans King and Christopher McDonald; one sister-in-law, Bessie M. Evans; and one great-nephew, Gershon Mason.

Survivors include four sisters, Linda Ross and husband, Oliver, Sandra Bruce and Angela Evans, all of Natchez, and the Rev. Connie Tayor and husband, the Rev. Darrell Tayor, of North Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Tommie Evans Sr. and Willie Evans Sr., both of Natchez; four aunts, Maggie Evans, Carrie Evans, both of Natchez, Mary Flourney of Chicago and Evelyn Evans of New Orleans; one special devoted niece, Vanessa E. McKnight of Natchez; two special nephews, Jason Bruce of Huntsville, Ala., and Joey Bruce of Natchez; two special cousins, Mary E. Rounds and Mable “Pat” Evans, both of Natchez; and one dear devoted friend, Patricia Issac of Natchez.
