“It always feels good to get a win, especially the first one,” JCHS coach James Herrington said. “Now we can relax and play football.”

Tigers quarterback Gailronte Fells accounted for five touchdowns last week — three rushing and two passing. Fells and Dominique Gaines each ended with more than 130 rushing yards in the win.

“Fells is playing pretty good football and improving every week,” Herrington said. “We have been telling him all week to try and not redo last week because every game is different.”

After a 2-0 start, South Delta suffered its first loss of the season last Friday night when the Bulldogs fell to Leflore County, 24-8.

“They are always a tough ball club,” Herrington said. “They will play four quarters, five is necessary.”
