Wilkinson County High School head coach Kenneth Brown said he was surprised his team did not play better than it did in a 34-0 loss at Class 2A Heidelberg High School.

And things might not get any easier for the Wildcats this week as they host LHSAA Class 3A St. Charles Catholic High School out of LaPlace, La. at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Comets are an LHSAA Class 3A select school. They are ranked No. 8 in the entire state and No. 1 in Division II. They improved to 2-0 last week with a 24-8 win over Destrehan High School.

“They’re a well-coached team, a well-balanced team,” Brown said. “Offensively, they give you a lot of formations — a little bit of everything. They play a 3-4 defense. They’re not real big, but they’re sound.”
