Mj Thornburg had two rushing touchdowns and Demarlon Lewis returned a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown as the Adams County Christian School Rebels defeated the Columbia Academy Cougars 41-22 Friday night.

Julian Wilson led ACCS’s ground game with nine carries for 85 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run that gave the Rebels a 21-6 lead with 7:41 to go in the second quarter. That lead increased to 27-6 on Lewis’ big defensive play with just 11 seconds to go until halftime. Jacob McDaniel ran in for the 2-point conversion.

Thornburg scored on a 14-yard run, his second touchdown of the night, and McDaniel scored on a 3-yard run to give the Rebels a commanding 41-6 lead.

Surprisingly, Columbia Academy kept its first-string offense on the field despite the big deficit and scored a couple of touchdowns to make the final score a little more respectable.

McDaniel as well as Caden Gillespie each had a fumble recovery, and Lewis also blocked a punt.

ACCS (4-1) plays at Trinity Episcopal next at 7 p.m. Thursday.
