MER ROUGE, La. — Services for Billy Wayne Buffington Sr., 83, of Mer Rouge, La., were 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Horseshoe Baptist Church near Mer Rouge with the Rev. Bob Lonadier and Lanet Buffington officiating.
Burial followed at the Bartholomew Cemetery near Bastrop, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop.
Mr. Buffington was a member of Horseshoe Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Buffington retired from the International Paper Company at the Natchez Mill.
He was preceded in death by wife, Thelma Wynn Buffington; his first wife, Mary Ethel Buffington; his parents, Grover Wilber Buffington Sr. and Edith Audry Buffington; two brothers, Grover Buffington Jr. and Howard Buffington; and one sister, Laverne “Pete” Grant.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Wayne Buffington Jr. and wife, Renee, of Sterlington, La., and Layne Ridgeway Buffington and wife, Tracy, of Monroe, La.; one daughter, Misty Buffington Coon and husband, Todd, of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Rena Jeanette Owens and husband, Clay, of Vidalia, Tiffany O’Neal and Heath O’Neal and wife, Tiffany, all of Monroe, Tyler Buffington of Sterlington, La., Mason Guidry and Alyson Guidry, both of Wesson, and Katie Marie Guidry of Monticello; four great-grandchildren, Jaden Elijah Owens, Makeleigh Paige Owens, Keagan Layne Owens and Kameron Ellis Hunter; one brother, James Buffington of Houston; and one sister, Yvonne McClain of Bastrop.
Pallbearers were Tyler Buffington, Mason Guidry, Garlen Randall, Marshall Stephens, Eddie Buffington and Scott Morrisette.
