FERRIDAY — Services for Myra Burks Walker, 72, of Ferriday, formerly of Waterproof, who died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Concordia Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Leroy Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at the Good Samaritan Cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walker was born in Waterproof, the daughter of Clarence and Annie Nelson. She was retired from Alcorn State University with 31 years of service as a librarian and an assistant to a biology professor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Walker; and one sister, Martha Jean Burks.
Survivors include one son, Stanley T. Smith and wife, Tamara, of Gulfport; one sister, Gloria M. Scott of Homewood, Ill.; two brothers, Charles Stigall and wife, Wanda, of Prairie Village, Mo., and W.C. Brown and wife, Geraldine, of Pittsburg, Calif.; two aunts, Thelma McDonald and Doris Taylor of Detroit; one grandchild, Jazmine Smith of Gulfport; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
